Ukulele Care & Maintenance Tips

Learning songs is exciting, but taking care of your ukulele ensures it stays in great condition.  Here are some essential ukulele maintenance tips:

1. Store Your Ukulele Properly

  • Keep it in a case or bag when not in use to protect it from dust and damage.
  • Store it in a cool, dry place to prevent warping.

2. Tune Your Ukulele Regularly

  • Ukuleles can go out of tune easily, especially if they're new.
  • Use a clip-on tuner or a tuning app (standard tuning:  G-C-E-A).

3. Clean the Strings & Body

  • Wipe down the strings after playing to remove dirt and oil.
  • Use a soft cloth to clean the body and frets.

4. Change Strings When Needed

  • Over time, strings lose their tone and tension.
  • If your uke sounds dull or is hard to keep in tune, replace the strings.

5. Play It Often!

  • Regular playing keeps the wood resonant and prevents strings from stiffening.
  • Plus, the more you play, the better you get!

The ukulele is an incredibly fun and beginner friendly instrument.  By following these simple care tips, your ukulele will stay in top shape for years to come.
