Where Is Zambia Located?
Zambia sits on a broad plateau between central, eastern and southern Africa. It has no ocean coastline, but its rivers and lakes are important geographic features. The Zambezi River runs through parts of the country and along much of its southern boundary. The Kafue and Luangwa rivers are also significant.
To the north are the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania; to the east are Malawi and Mozambique. Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia lie towards the south and southwest, while Angola is to the west. Zambia’s borders meet Botswana near the Kazungula crossing, a particularly short international boundary.
Zambia’s 10 Provinces
Zambia is divided into ten provinces. This table pairs each province with its administrative centre and a useful geographic reference.

| Central | Kabwe — central plateau and road connections. |
